Privacy
The short version: we hold as little as we can, and treat every shadchan’s contact details as private.
If you’re looking for a shadchan
You don’t need an account to search or browse — nothing you type into the filters is linked to your name.
Contact a shadchan and we email them your message, your address as reply-to, then keep no copy. What we keep indefinitely: a scrambled version of your email (never the address itself), age, gender and location given, which shadchan you contacted, the date, and delivery status — never your name.
A shidduch resume is deleted once delivered, or automatically if it isn’t.
If you’re a shadchan
Your listing — name, location, age range, genders you work with, tags, description and website — is public. Your own gender, collected at sign-up, helps searchers filter and never appears on your listing.
Your email stays private: it routes inquiries to you and never appears on the page, its code, or any link. Choose what you need from a searcher — phone number, location, a shidduch resume — or turn the contact form off and list just your website.
If you remove your listing, we retain your information so it can be restored if you choose to reopen your account. It is permanently deleted on request. If your account is removed for misuse, your email address may be kept so it can’t be used to sign up again, until the ban is lifted. Signing in uses a one-time link sent to your email, not a password, expiring after an hour.
If you’re applying without an invitation link
Apply through the shadchan form without a link, and we keep what you send — your name, email, where you work from, how you heard about us, and what you tell us about yourself — for the owner’s review, not shown publicly. Once the owner decides, we delete it and keep only a dated note that an application was received and what was decided.
Events
Anyone can browse events without an account. If you post one, its title, date, time, location, description and poster are public, and removing a poster deletes the file, not just hides it. If you leave the site or your listing is unpublished, the event stays up without your name.
Reports
Report a listing, and your email, the reason and the details are kept until the owner has handled the report. Your email is used only to make sure one person isn’t reporting the same listing twice.
Who receives your information
The shadchan you contact receives your message by email. To run the site, we use a hosting and database provider, an email provider that delivers messages and sign-in links, and a bot-check service that receives your IP address and browser details to keep out spam. Every form on the site also keeps a scrambled version of your IP address and email address for up to three hours, to catch spam.
Your rights
Ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold. Write from the same email address you used — that’s how we find your record. If you have a complaint about how your information is handled, use our contact form. You’re also welcome, at any time, to turn to your country’s data protection authority — the government office that looks after people’s privacy rights.
